HAPPY ANNIVERSARY...

Today is my in-law’s 61st (yes, 61st!) wedding anniversary.  Thought this card was apt...

Dave’s Dad’s Birthday...

Today is the Father-in-Law’s birthday.  He’s become a bit of a grouchy, sometimes downright nasty old man of late, but we all let him get away with it because he has so much to cope with with my Mother-in-Law.  Anyway, he hasn’t upset me enough (yet) to stop me making him a birthday card...

MARJ’S BIRTHDAY...

Today is my friend Marjorie’s birthday.  She recently broke her hip after being blown into a lamp post by a gust of wind (she lives in Blackpool).  She’s a stitcher, in fact I was the one who got her started.  She’s a fair-weather stitcher though, only stitching in the summer when the light is better.  Here’s her card...
From the same chart collection I stitched her a cover for a notebook, and with the stationery I bought her I thought it quite a nice present.

Mother’s Day...

Today is Mother’s Day and as usual I have made the two mothers cards from the same collection - it saves me having to kit up the threads twice - clever huh?

Here’s my mum’s...
and here is Dave’s mum’s...
Sorry for the crap photos

I was meant to be at work today but yesterday I woke up with the most horrendous stomach bug.  I dragged myself to work but was promptly sent home again and because I work with food I wasn’t allowed to go in today.  I wish I could say I’ve had a nice day, but I haven’t.

MOTHER-IN-LAW’S BIRTHDAY...

Today is my Mother-In-Law’s birthday.  She suffers from dementia, amongst other things and she can no longer speak, walk, or do anything for herself.  She is still at home, amazingly, due to carers coming in three times a day.  My Father-In-Law does not want her to go into a home,  I don’t blame him, but the stress and strain of looking after her is taking its toll on him.  I still stitch her a card, even though she doesn’t know anything about it.

Dave’s Birthday...

Today is my husband’s 56th birthday.  I am taking him away for a couple of days to Derbyshire for a treat.

Mum’s Birthday...

Today is my mum’s birthday.  I’ve bought her some Baylis & Harding, a new apron and a scented candle.  Why are people so much harder to buy for the older they get?

Here is her card, which incidentally the Post Office has lost!

Last But Not Least...

This is the last Christmas card I stitched and was for my friend Em, who definitely deserves a stitched card.  She bought me a stunning lamp for Christmas, one of those with a pretend flame made out of fabric.  All I got her was a Laura Ashley mug.  Guilty!
Also here is a update of my Long Winter’s Nap socking.
The first page is nearly finished and I’ve had a ball doing it.  There is a lot of boring beard to do on the next page down but I loved that the first page had his face on it.

Been feeling a bit down lately.  I think my depression is rearing its ugly head again.  All I want to do is stay at home and hide, so I bought myself some beautiful tulips to try and cheer myself up a bit.  I’ve had two days off work and I’m due back tomorrow and I’m absolutely dreading it.  No particular reason, I just don’t want to go out.  I told my husband on Monday night that I felt content and he was really pleased to hear that, but it was only because I knew that I could hide away for the next two days at home.

Marj’s Christmas Card...

OK, still posting Christmas cards. Oh well.  This one was for my friend Marj.  I always try to find something a little different for her and this one is very Nordic-y I thought and as she is a very traditional person I thought it would be very unusual for her.

Dave’s Mum & Dad’s Christmas Card...

This is the card I stitched for Dave’s Mum & Dad for Christmas.  Same range as my parent’s card.  I only stitched three cards last year. Normally everyone gets one but I just didn’t feel like it.

I have started a new project.  A Long Winter’s Nap Stocking from Heaven & Earth Designs.  This is my progress so far after two weeks.
I’m loving it.  I’m just going to complete one page and then put it away so I don’t get bored.

Also, look what I found in my local Home Bargains.  I presume it’s a child’s lunch box but I’m using it to store my threads in.
Very Cath-esque I thought, and only £1.29!!!

Jill’s Birthday...

Today is my sister-in-law’s birthday.  We are exactly the same age almost!  I made her some cupcakes and this picture.  She was thrilled - I think.  It’s hard to tell with Jill, everything is “nice” and I swear I’ve never seen anything we’ve ever bought her in her flat, but still, you can’t go wrong with cats.

Emma’s Birthday Card...

My new friend Emma had a birthday today.  She’s recently given up work to become a full time mummy so I thought this card would be appropriate.  She’s also a keen baker so I bought her a jar of vanilla paste.

Mum & Dad’s Christmas card...

This is the card that I stitched for my Mum and Dad this Christmas.

Em’s Birthday...

Today was my best friend at work, Em’s birthday.  Notoriously difficult to buy for I very nervously presented her with this Laura Ashley cup and saucer and she loved it.
Of course I made her a card…
This was the card from us all at work, we all signed it.  She had a good day.

60 Glorious Years...

Today is my mother and father-in-law's Diamond Wedding Anniversary.  Sadly she doesn't know anything about it I'm afraid but we still have to mark it and on Sunday we are going round with a Victoria sponge to have a little party.  I made them this card...
There was a woeful lack of charts for Diamond Weddings, probably because they are so rare?  This one a unearthed from my very old Jo Verso book, wow that book looks so basic and old fashioned now.  I stitched clear beads on it to look like diamonds, I'm not very happy with it but there you go.
They also got a telegram from the Queen!  They don't come automatically like on your 100th birthday, we had to apply for it on line, but Dave's Dad is absolutely thrilled with it.
Also a bit of news from myself.  I've been promoted at work to Team Leader and here's the badge to prove it !

Father-In-Law's Birthday...

Today is Dave's Dad's birthday.  We bought him a big box of Thornton's and I made him this card.
It's getting harder and harder to find cards to stitch that are suitable for men.  Unless they play golf of course.  I've just about exhausted my supply of charts that I can do for Dave's Dad.

Maragret's Birthday

My very good friend at work, Margaret has a birthday today.  She's been going through a very rough time at home recently, due to the fact that her husband is a b*****d.  I made her this card and we all clubbed together to buy her a CD and tons and tons of chocolate.
Obviously she has a couple of Yorkshire Terriers, it wasn't just a random thing!

Marj's Birthday...

I have known this lady for 29 years - even I didn't think it was that long until I just worked it out.  We used to work together and then she moved back to her native Blackpool and we have kept in touch by letter and the occasional visit ever since.  Today is her birthday and when I saw this chart I just knew I had to make it for her.
I finished it into a little pillow and added lace down one side and beads around the edge.  I really hope she likes it.
This is the card I made for her.  Happy Birthday Marj.

This is the first Bank Holiday weekend I've had off since I started working in the cafe and I was really looking forward to it so I was really pissed off when someone stole my IPhone from work on Friday night.  I accidentally left it in the kitchen, went back for it about an hour later and it was gone.  99% probability that it was a member of the Tesco staff.  Sad but true.  We are claiming for it on the house insurance but we have to pay £200 excess.  Not a happy bunny.

Nelka's Birthday...

Today is my boss, Nelka's 30th birthday.  You know you're getting old when your boss is 18 years younger than you!  Being the true creep that I am I stitched her a card.  Not a creep really, I actually like her.

Laura's New Baby Card...

My friend from work Laura had a little baby girl on New Year's Day.  Her name is Jamie and poor Laura was in labour for 63 hours.  I made the new Mummy and Daddy a little card...
