KNITTED HANDBAG...

Spent the whole of yesterday assembling this knitted bag.  It’s not perfect, far from it, but I’m quite pleased with it.  The only criticism is the handles but that wasn’t my fault, it was the patterns.  The strip you stitch round the handles is no where near wide enough but it’s too late now.

I do love the lining fabric, which is Liberty.

It was knitted in artesano aran yarn and the pattern came from a booklet which was with Simply Knitting magazine.

Baby Shower...

Last Saturday I went to my very first Baby Shower.  Lots of people complain about American traditions coming over here, such as baby showers, trick or treating etc., but I love them.  It was a lovely afternoon with bunting, balloons, a pram shaped piñata, games and presents.  I made Ruth, the mummy-to-be, this blanket.

It was a challenging but fun knit to do.  I got the pattern from Ravelry, here.  Unfortunately it was one of four hand made blankets to appear on the day but mine was sufficiently different to stand out I think.

Nelka's baby blanket...

I am surrounded by pregnant women at the moment.  My boss, Nelka is due to have her baby very soon, she finishes work in a couple of weeks, and I've knitted her this blanket.

I got the pattern from Ravely here.  I was very easy and fun to knit.  Hope she likes it.

All - nighter ...nearly !

One of my work friends, Laura left today to start her maternity leave.  I started a baby blanket for her ages ago but because of my broken arm it had to go into mothballs for a while.  Anyway, once the cast came off it was all systems go with it again but it was slow going.  I was determined that I would give it to her on her last day so sat up until gone half past one in the morning to get the thing finished.  Unfortunately that meant that I had to take photos of it this morning, this very early and foggy morning - so they are crap, to be honest.

Laura loved it though  -  Phew  !!!

I Managed To Sew On A Button!!!!

Well, two buttons to be exact !  Go me !  I've finished Jack's Dinosaur jumper which has been languishing in a Tesco carrier bag for weeks.  The photo is dreadful as I am no yet up to blocking the jumper - definitely a two handed job - but you get the gist.

The cast comes off on 8th October, all being well.  I'm so fed up and bored.  Dave bought me a Kindle a couple of days after I broke my arm and I absolutely love it.  I've read four books since I've been incapacitated, two of them have "Fifty" in the title (Ahem!)  I've managed to do a bit of stitching this last week but it's very slow going and it makes my bad arm ache after a while, but for a little while I feel back to my old self.

Dainty Steps Socks...

I finished these socks ages ago and they have barely been off my feet ever since, hence the reason I haven't blogged about them until now.  They are so cosy and comfortable, although a bit slippy on my kitchen floor!  They were knitted in Katia Ole yarn which was beautiful to work with.

I am knitting again at the moment.  I'm making a jumper for my step-grandson Jack for Christmas (yes, I said Christmas !).  Here's how far I have got...

This is the first time I have knitted on circular needles and I'm loving it.  I like the fact that when I'm finished with this bit I don't have to start all over again on the back or front, it's already done !

Socks...

I finished up these socks the other week. They are more like bed socks or slippers than proper socks so I use them to slob about the house in. They are very warm, very comfy and very pretty.

Please excuse the horrible chicken-skin legs!

The Forgotten Socks...

I made these socks back in November/December and completely forgot about them. I got the pattern from here.
They're not perfect, a few mistakes in them, but they're warm and comfy - all you need from a sock really.
