Mother’s Day...

Today is Mother’s Day and as usual I have made the two mothers cards from the same collection - it saves me having to kit up the threads twice - clever huh?

I was meant to be at work today but yesterday I woke up with the most horrendous stomach bug.  I dragged myself to work but was promptly sent home again and because I work with food I wasn’t allowed to go in today.  I wish I could say I’ve had a nice day, but I haven’t.

MOTHER-IN-LAW’S BIRTHDAY...

Today is my Mother-In-Law’s birthday.  She suffers from dementia, amongst other things and she can no longer speak, walk, or do anything for herself.  She is still at home, amazingly, due to carers coming in three times a day.  My Father-In-Law does not want her to go into a home,  I don’t blame him, but the stress and strain of looking after her is taking its toll on him.  I still stitch her a card, even though she doesn’t know anything about it.

Mother-In-Law's Birthday...

Monday was my mother-in-law's birthday.  She's one of the few people I can be bothered to make a card for now.

We also bought her a couple of new nighties.  

While I'm here I thought I would share my progress on my latest project "Winter Wonderland Cushion".  

A bit crumpled, I know but you get the idea.  I think the chart was in Cross Stitcher magazine and I'm loving how it's turning out.  

Happy Mother's Day...

Today is Mother's Day in the UK.  Having no children of my own I don't get to be spoilt and there are no flowers for me today but I do spoil my Mum and Mother-In-Law.

I made my Mum this card

and I bought her a cushion, some chocolates and made her this fob...

the fabric it's sitting on is the backing fabric.

Now, on to Dave's Mum's card...

Something nice, bright and simple I thought.

Just a quiet day at home today, roast chicken and cauliflower cheese and I think I might bake a lemon sponge.

I totally forgot to blog about the Mother's Day cards that I stitched. So here they are three weeks late! The first one is the one I did for Dave's Mum and the one below is the one I made for my mum and I wish I'd stitched the cage in a different colour now so it showed up more but ho-hum, never mind, it's done now. Nobody seemed to mind!

Dave's Mum's 80th Birthday...

Yesterday we had a little party for Dave's mum. When a girl reaches 80 years old she definitely deserves a big chocolate cake and that is what I made for her

Dave's Mum's Christmas Present ...

Dave's mum is not very well. She is chair-bound and hardly moves so I came up with the idea of making her a lap blanket for her Christmas present. His dad is very active, always up and down and looking after everything and sometimes their flat feels a little chilly if you are just sat there so I thought this would keep her nice and cosy in the colder months. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, especially the snowflakes as they are the first time I've tried anything that fancy. Hope she likes it!

I always stitch the mother's the same cards, not identical but from the same magazine charts as I only have to kit up once! These are the ones I made for them this year. Hope all you mothers had a lovely day on Sunday.

Dave's Mum's Birthday ...

Today is Dave's Mum's birthday and I made this card for her. She's really not very well now. Housebound and has carers coming in three times a day, she has good days and bad days but a lot of the time she just sits quietly. So I thought I'd make her a sweet, colourful card.

His mum's birthday alway falls near Mother's Day. A couple of years ago it actually fell on Mother's Day - there should be some sort of law against that !
