Weird times...
Well, these last couple of weeks have been strange, haven't they? These stupid, inane, idiotic riots for one. What are these people thinking? People dying as they try to defend their business? This has nothing to do with any socio-economic problems that might be occurring in their areas, as these sort of people don't want to work. If there was 100% employment in their area they would still be on the dole! It just makes me feel like nailing my front door shut and forgetting there's a world out there. On Saturday night some little twat set fire to a car in our car park. Dave and I had just got to bed and we heard a load POP then a lot of shouting and running around, we quickly got dressed and ran out to the car park to find one of our neighbours putting out a blazing car with a fire extinguisher. The owner of the car was crying her eyes out and we all just stood around wondering what the hell was going on. Apparently five or six cars around this area have been torched in the last couple of nights - just little knob heads who have seen what's going on in London, Manchester and Birmingham on the telly and decided "that looks like fun". I despair. The men around here have all swapped mobile numbers and are keeping a constant watch on our car park now - if nothing else it's been a great male bonding exercise!
Onto nicer, cosier things. Thank God I've got them! I baked some gorgeous (even though I say so myself!) cupcakes from the Eat Me book. One taster said they were the best cakes she'd ever tasted.

Emma's Birthday...
Yesterday was my step-daughter, Emma's birthday. She's been having a rough time of it recently. She's in the process of splitting up with her husband and is looking for a new home for herself and her two little children. It is NOT an amicable split and it is deeply affecting the whole family. We just can't wait until all three of them are out of that house and then we feel we can relax a little. We bought her a new digital camera and I made her this fun card.
I also, at her request, baked her some carrot cup cakes with cream cheese frosting. I bought the little edible carrots from E-bay, I didn't make them myself! These are gorgeous cakes and the recipe can be found here if you fancy giving them a go.
I also had a visit yesterday morning from my dear friend Sharon and her husband, Alan. Now, Alan doesn't eat cake, unless he's at my house that is. He keep threatening to leave Sharon for me as she doesn't bake! So I made him coffee and walnut cupcakes. He took some home with him, of course!
Dave wasn't working yesterday so when visits and birthdays were over he took me into town shopping. We had lunch in a pub and he bought me Jilly Cooper's new paperback, Jump and ... a new bottle of Coco Chanel, my "signature" fragrance. Very extravagant! "Why did you buy me that", I asked. "Because you've been through a bad time lately and you've done really well getting yourself out of it, you deserved a treat!" Bless him!

Baking ...
I baked some cupcakes on Sunday, and they turned out the best I've ever done. I'm also getting better with the old icing bag too!
The picture is not the greatest, Dave did take some lovely arty-farty shots of them but I've lost them! I quickly took this one of the last remaining cupcake last night before I ate it! They were Lemon and Poppyseed and you can find the receipe here if you fancy giving them a go. I can highly recommend them!
Thought I'd sneek in a couple of crochet squares now I've distracted you with cake!
No. 39
and No. 40. Don't think anyone noticed. Phew, think I got away with that!
