Jill’s Birthday...

Today is my sister-in-law’s birthday.  We are exactly the same age almost!  I made her some cupcakes and this picture.  She was thrilled - I think.  It’s hard to tell with Jill, everything is “nice” and I swear I’ve never seen anything we’ve ever bought her in her flat, but still, you can’t go wrong with cats.

Yesterday was my sister-in-law, Jill's birthday.  We are almost exactly the same age.  I bought her a pot to save £2 coins in.  I've got one and when it's full it will have £1,000 in it, and I'm going to New York!

Yesterday was my sister-in-law, Jill's, birthday. This is the card I made for her.

As much as possible I am trying to hand make all my gifts so I made her a cupcake kit in a jar and also this little thing.
She loved them!

Happy New Year!!!

Albeit a week late! We had a very quiet one, just me and Dave at home, me desperately trying to stay awake until midnight, just managed it. I was at work on New Year's Day, but was sent home after an hour and forty-five minutes because we were so quiet. Still catching up with Christmas stuff and I thought I would share with you the presents I made for the girls, chocolate cupcake kits, they went down very well indeed. I got the idea from here, and they were great fun to make. Jars from Ikea, ribbon from E-Bay, wooden spoons from Wilkos and the rest of the stuff was in my pantry. Leia thought I had bought them from somewhere and claimed they were "even better" for being home-made! I find it a great compliment when people think my homemade gifts were bought. Emma thought that her Can Can scarf was bought, too.

So thrilled was I with these gifts that I have made my sister-in-law Jill, one for her birthday.

Birthday card for Dave's sister, Jill. I've a funny feeling that she throws my stitched cards away because she once said "it's a shame to part with them" once when we were talking about them. Oh hum, but I still make her one every year!

Better Late Than Never ...

I was meant to start this new blog on 1st January but I've been so busy being unemployed and floating round the house all day that I just haven't had the time!! Anyway here's what I've been doing this year.

First finished project was Jill's birthday present. Thought that a hand-made gift would be a good idea considering the lack of funds and more time on my hands - it seemed to make sense. As she is a total cat-obsessive I naturally went for a Margaret Sherry design.

Next to be finished was Dave's Valentine's Card which was a freebie from Passione Ricamo.
Next up was Esme's birthday card, from Cross Stitch Card Shop which I stitched on 28 ct Jazlyn from Silkweaver in Baby Blue stiched in DMC threads and Kreinik blending filament.

Then I started to get really creative and stitched this ornament for Dave's Valentine's Day gift. This was another freebie from The Chocolate Cat stitched on natural evenweave in DMC N0. 498.

Shazza's birthday card was a bit of an afterthought, was going to buy her one but she said she would pop round and so I experimented with my new magnifier and stitched her this one over one.
